The members of CCJWSS approached Watertight Solutions to design a joint water supply scheme for 15 separate properties.

The target quantity of water was 20000 litres per day per property. The members found an excellent supply of water for the project through a sub artesian bore. This bore was located 6km from the nearest mains power source. We went through the different options of powering the bore site. Ie extending the powerline, using a diesel genset or using a solar powered pump.

The solar powered pump was the best choice in this situation.

We installed a solar powered pump to deliver an average of 400kl a day delivered 6kms to 750kl of storage. At this storage site we installed a set of pumps with Variable speed drive technology that will boost the required water to the 15 on farm sites.

From the 15 drop off points some were also away from mains power so we installed smaller solar pumps at these sites to boost the individuals allocation to the required part of their property.

Watertight helped with getting various permissions for a project of this nature. RMS, Crown Land local Shire Cultural Heritage and Environmental permissions were all required.

  • 1 Solar powered bore pump site.
  • 1 Multi Pump powered pump site.
  • Total pipeline length is around 70km.

This water project gives the landholders certainty with their water supply for cropping and livestock and also adds value to their investment of agricultural land.
